Crusaders top SW Christian

The Mayer Lutheran boys’ basketball team had just one contest last week and came away with a 60-53 win over Southwest Christian of Chaska. Leading 26-25 at halftime, the Crusaders outscored the Stars 34-28 in the second half. Four Crusaders topped 10 points, including senior Anthony Gruenhagen, senior Cole Buttenhoff, and sophomore Sam Schlueter, who each scored 12 points. Senior Chad Anenson netted 10 points, followed by junior Taylor Otterstatter (7), senior Joel Burfeind (5), and senior Joe Zittergruen (2). Now 10-3 this season, the Crusaders lead the Minnesota River Conference at 5-0. Mayer Lutheran will host Jordan this Friday, Jan. 24. Next week, the Crusaders will hit the road to Sibley East (Jan. 27), Concordia Academy (Jan. 28), and Belle Plaine (Jan. 30).
