The Waconia Lakettes are very happy this week, after a stellar final regular season meet last weekend in Prior Lake. Competing against six other teams in both high kick and jazz, the Lakettes had their best finishes of the season, with the varsity jazz team winning the competition, and the high kick coming in as runners up.
“Coaches are ecstatic!” Lakettes head coach Amy Segner said. “All scores went up along with kicks, leaps, adrenaline, and overall everything!”
Segner said this top-competition format is where the Lakettes want to be as they head to the Section 3AA competition this weekend at Mound-Westonka on Feb. 1.
The top three teams from the jazz and high kick divisions will advance to the state tournament, held Feb. 14-15 at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
Also at Prior Lake, the junior varsity teams brought home three second-place finishes from the JVA Jazz, JVB Jazz, and JV Kick teams.
