College of Saint Benedict (St. Joseph, Minn.) sophomore Madison Peitz, a 2012 graduate of Waconia High School, recently captured her second consecutive national title with the CSB dance team.

The UDA College Nationals were held in Orlando, Fla. between Jan. 7 and Jan. 19, and the Blazers won the Open Division Pom for the second straight year. Also competing in the Jazz Open Division, the Blazers finished fifth overall.

The team is comprised of 16 members with two alternates, while over 100 girls tried out for those spots.

The competition will be aired on ESPN in February.

Dancing since she was three years old, Peitz first trained at Charlene’s before moving on to Chanhassen Performing Arts. At WHS, Peitz was a member of the Waconia Lakettes for four seasons, earning All-Conference honors three times.

This summer, Peitz will teach the summer Waconia Lakettes studio program for the third time.

The sophomore is majoring in biology and Spanish and also teaches dance at a studio in Waite Park. She is the daughter of Randy and Jenny Peitz.
