Esther Goethke, 86

Esther L. Goethke, age 86, of Waconia passed away on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at the Auburn Manor in Chaska.
Funeral Service Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia with Rev. Phil Wagner officiating; visitation Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the service at the church; chapel service 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening led by Rev. Dave Erbel; interment Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Esther was born on June 25, 1927 in Watertown Twp., the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Vollrath) Luebke. She was baptized in July of 1927 at her home and later confirmed on April 6, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. On April 26, 1946, Esther was united in marriage to Erwin E. Goethke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia by Rev. Robert Heyne.
Esther was a homemaker on their family farm with her parents and her husband until 1966. A lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, she belonged to the Altar Guild, PTL, and LWML. Esther was a club leader of the Pleasant Valley 4-H and participated in the Waconettes Homemakers. She had a passion and a talent for quilting for her family and the missions, she also made baby blankets for the Layettes. Esther often opened her home to student teachers during their time at Trinity.
During her lifetime Esther worked at the Green Giant Canning factory in Watertown, Tonka Toys in Mound, and Duebers in Waconia.
Her hobbies included quilting, patching blue jeans, flower gardening, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles, word search books and reading. She will be missed.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband Erwin Goethke, who passed away on Aug. 26, 2012; grandson Brad Dummer Jr.; sisters Mildred Krause, Maeola Groenke, Emma Hilk, Ruth Hilk; brother Martin Luebke Sr.
Esther is survived by her loving family; children and spouses Paul and Maryann Goethke of Medina, Ohio, LuAnn and Brad Dummer of Denver, N.C., Judy and Stan Ashman of Waconia, Mark and Jennifer Goethke of Hopkins; grandchildren Adam Dummer, Sarah Dummer, Michael Ashman; step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and husband Alice and Maurice Leuthner of Victoria; brother-in-law and wife Bill and Kathy Ebert Sauk Rapids; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers are Esthers children and grandchildren.
