Input sought on Waconia supterintendent search

As discussed during the Waconia School Board meeting on Monday, Feb. 10, the board has contracted with the superintendent search firm School Exec Connect to assist with the search for a new superintendent.
Board members want the public to be informed of the process that it will be following as it conducts the search for a new superintendent. Board members also hope that citizens will give their input to assist the board as it completes the search for the best selection possible.
Over the next few weeks, representatives from the search firm will meet with board members, school staff, parents, students, and community members to determine the characteristics and skills the community values in its next superintendent. In addition, citizens will have the opportunity to provide confidential input via an online survey, which is available at the district website ( until March 5.
The information gathered will guide the selection process.
In addition to the specific school and community focus groups and survey, district officials are inviting the entire community to participate in an input session on Monday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at Bayview Elementary School’s Multi-Purpose Room.
Once the board has narrowed the field to two to three finalists, community members are invited to participate in open question-and-answer sessions with each candidate. While that exact schedule has yet to be determined, the Q&A sessions will take place on May 13-15. Locations and start times will be posted on the district website.
If you have any questions about the search, feel free to contact consultants Toni Johns (612-309-1511), Ken Dragseth (952-210-2790), or Charlie Kyte (651-247-6505). Board members look forward to your assistance in this search process and believe that your input will help them make the best possible choice for the next superintendent.
