Participate in Minnesota FoodShare month

To the editor:

March is Minnesota FoodShare month!
Friends for Life Food Shelf in Watertown is asking the community to collect food during this time.
The more donations we receive during March, the more matching funds we earn to help us through the busy summer months!
Suggestions include placing a collection table at church or school, asking guests to bring food donations to your next party, or picking up a couple extra items each time you go to the grocery store.
Perhaps you can help donate special items for our holiday food giveaway. Give me a call at (952) 955-1980 and I’ll let you know what we need.
As food shelf administrator at FFL Food Shelf, I want to express my gratitude to all the individuals and groups who supported us in 2013. I have seen our needs met faithfully for the approximately 75 families who come for groceries each month.
We use monetary donations to purchase fresh milk, eggs, margarine, cheese, and meat, as well as many canned and packaged goods from the Second Harvest Food Bank. March food donations help us have a variety of food items available.
Current needs: tuna, pasta sides, spaghetti, dessert mixes, peanut butter, jello and pudding mix, crackers, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and bar soap.
Bring donations to the Food Shelf, located at the south end of City Hall, 309 Lewis Ave S. in Watertown. Hours are: Monday 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Friday 9 a.m. to noon. Send monetary donations to FFL, P.O. Box 824, Watertown, MN 55388.
