SATURDAY, FEB. 22 – The Waconia VFW will hold a steak fry at the clubhouse in Waconia, 125 First St. W., from 5 to 8 p.m. Steak or chicken, baked and cheesy potatoes, cole slaws, dessert.

SUNDAY, FEB. 23 – Waconia Fellowship of Christian Athletes will gather from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crown College for games, food and an encouraging message.
SUNDAY, FEB. 23 – The Waconia Moravian Church (209 East 2nd Street) will host its 19th annual Alligator Gumbo from 5 to 7 p.m. Fundraiser features spicy gumbo made from scratch with real alligator meat. Homemade chicken noodle soup will also be served along with homemade pies and bars for dessert. All welcome. Procceds will be used to help send youth to church camps.
Public Health Shot Clinic
MONDAY, FEB. 24 – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th St., Chaska) provides immunizations, or shots, to residents who don’t have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover shots, from 3 to 5 p.m. Shots for adults and children available. Princess, hero party
TUESDAY, MARCH 4 – ISD #110 ECFE is hosting a Princess and Super Hero Party for families with young children to help celebrate Jillian Taylor’s 5th birthday on March 6. At the time Taylor was diagnosed with leukemia in spring 2013, she was enrolled in ECFE Preschool and has since had numerous chemo therapy treatments. The event is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Southview gym. Princess Nicole from www.PrincessPartyPals.com will share stories and songs, plus a variety of party games are being planned. Cards for Soldiers
SATURDAY, MARCH 22 – Give back to the men and women who are serving the country by attending the Cards for Soldiers event at Cologne Academy. Sponsored by the Cologne Lions, it begins at 9 a.m. and ends when everyone is finished.
The goal is to make 1,500 handmade greeting cards for Scrapping for Soldiers (www.scrappingforsoldiers.com). Cards can be sent to local members of the military serving overseas. Lunch provided by Cologne Leos. Info: Judy at 466-2690.

WHA Ice Out Event
FRIDAY, MARCH 28 – The public is invited to attend the Waconia Hockey Association’s annual fundraiser event from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Waconia Ice Arena. Event includes 80s music, game show entertainment, beer and wine tasting, appetizers and raffle drawings. 80s attire is not required, but prizes awarded for the best dressed.
