Annual Crusaders for a Cure raises $3,700

For the fourth straight season, the Mayer Lutheran girls’ basketball team made a donation to Ridgeview Medical Center’s Pay It Forward program. The program helps women battling cancer to pay everyday bills. Over the last four years, the Crusaders have donated nearly $17,000 to the cause, including over $3,700 in 2014. LHS head coach Kris Gustin said he was nervous to begin the fundraiser four years ago, unsure of how much money the Crusaders could raise, but that he has felt nothing but blessed by the success thus far. “It is amazing how He moves our community to support these things,” he said. “It’s truly an honor that we’re able to contribute.” The Crusaders held the check presentation just before their Feb. 24 game against Sibley East.
