Alice Kroells, 80

Alice Kroells, 80, of Waconia, formerly of Norwood Young America, died on Friday, Feb. 21, at Good Samaritan Society in Waconia.
Alice Mae (Klaustermeier) (Heinen) Kroells was born on May 26, 1933, in Princeton. She was the daughter of Rueben and Catherine (Molenaar) Klaustermeier. Alice was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith on Jan. 19, 1975, by Rev. Schafer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. She received her education at a country school by Princeton.
On May 24, 1960, Alice was united in marriage to Merton Heinen. Alice and Merton made their home in rural Cologne. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Julie and Douglas. Alice and Merton shared over 35 years of marriage until Merton died on July 4, 1995.
On April 28, 2001, Alice was united in marriage to Hillard Kroells by Rev. Dean Mahlum at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. Alice and Hillard made their home in Norwood Young America. Alices life was blessed with Hillards children, Ronald, Cynthia and David. Alice and Hillard shared over 12 years of marriage.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Alice worked at Masonic Nursing Home in Shakopee, Minnesota, in the late 1950s. She also worked at Core Printing and Young America Corporation in the 1980s. Alice was a member of St. Pauls Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg.
Alice was an avid reader and would read many books each week. She purchased many books for young children to encourage them to learn and enjoy reading. Alice loved horses and hearing the stories her granddaughter would tell her about her horse shows. When she lived on the farm, she raised hundreds of chickens and sold eggs directly to restaurants and individuals. Alice had a huge garden and either canned or preserved most of the familys food each year. She was an excellent cook and baker. Alice created a small business of baking and decorating cakes for weddings and other special events. She especially cherished the time she spent with family and friends.
When Alice needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Good Samaritan Society in Waconia. She died there on Friday, Feb. 21, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 26 days.

Alice is survived by her husband, Hillard Kroells of Norwood Young America; daughter, Julie Heinen of Lester Prairie; step children, Ronald Kroells and his wife, Linda, of Hamburg, Cynthia Kroells of River Falls, Wis., and David Kroells of Hamburg; eight step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; brother, Gerald Klaustermeier of Princeton; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Catherine Klaustermeier; first husband, Merton Heinen; son, Douglas Heinen; and brother, David Klaustermeier.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 1 p.m., at St. Pauls Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Pastor Daniel Schnabel officiated the service with organist Sandy Kroells. Congregational Hymns were What A Friend We Have In Jesus, Amazing Grace, Softly and Tenderly and I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say. Casket bearers were Gary Fahrenkamp, Mark Krautkremer, David Kroells, Ronald Kroells, Dennis Pressnall and John Bruesehoff.
