Gary Bajula, 72, of Norwood Young America, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.
Gary Fredrick Bajula was born on June 8, 1941, in Brainerd. He was the son of Armond and Lucille (Cunningham) Bajula. Gary was baptized on May 4, 1952, later confirmed in his faith on May 13, 1956, both in Hope Lutheran Church, Walker. Gary continued in his faith on Aug. 15, 1977, as a communicant member of the St. Thomas Apostle Catholic Church in Corcoran, joining his family in the Catholic faith.
He received his education in Walker, and was a graduate of the Walker High School Class of 1959. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1959 but was honorably discharged due to previous knee injury after only a few short months.
On Dec. 31, 1960, Gary was united in marriage to Patricia Mills at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Walker. Their marriage was blessed with three children: David, Robert, and Christine. Patricia and Gary made their home in Minneapolis and Rockford, through 1979; moved to Gainesville, Texas; Bristol, Conn.; and then Crosby, Texas, in 2006, before moving to Peace Villa in Norwood Young America in 2009. Gary and Patricia shared over 52 years of marriage before Patricia passed away in March of 2012.
On July 4, 2012, Gary was united in marriage to Georgi. Gary and Georgi made their home at Peace Villa in Norwood Young America. Gary worked as a cook and restaurant manager before finding his true passion as a home builder. Gary was skilled carpenter and master home builder. He truly loved his work and took pride in all that he created. He was a member of Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America and was a past member of the Elks Lodge (Connecticut), Carpenters Union, and Lions Club.
Gary enjoyed passionately his carpentry, both in his career and as a hobby making furniture. As of late, he loved spending time mastering Sudoku puzzles. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Gary passed away on Thursday, Feb. 20, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 12 days.

Gary is survived by his wife, Georgi Bajula of Watertown; children, David Bajula and his wife, Connie, of Beach City, Texas, Robert Bajula and his wife, Melinda, of Dallas, Texas, Christine Gagner and her husband, Glenn, of East Long Meadow, Mass.; grandchildren, Kristy, Zachary, Jamie, Tyler and Lauren; great-granddaughter, Heidi; mother, Lucille Bajula of Dexter; sisters, Bonnie Gerrke and her husband, Gene, Annetta, North Dakota, Rose Connelly and her husband, Tom, of Dexter; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Armond Bajula; wife, Patricia Bajula; and brother, Charlie Bajula.
Memorial services were Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America.
Father Gregory Abbott officiated the service with special music, The Way We Were by Barbara Streisand.
