Wrestling/BB salt sale

The Waconia wrestling and baseball teams have kicked off their annual sp ring water softener salt sale. Residents who live in ISD #110 can order salt and have it delivered to their homes on Saturday, April 26. Three types of softener salt are available: coarse, pellet and iron. MNsure info meeting

THURSDAY, MARCH 27 – The Minnesota Council of Churches will present an informational meeting about MNsure at 7 p.m. at the Waconia Moravian Church.

WHA Ice Out Event

FRIDAY, MARCH 28 – The public is invited to attend the Waconia Hockey Association’s annual fundraiser event from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Waconia Ice Arena. Event includes 80s music, game show entertainment, beer and wine tasting, appetizers and raffle drawings. 80s attire is not required, but prizes awarded for the best dressed. ‘Dollars for Detty’

SATURDAY, MARCH 29 – “Dollars For Detty,” a benefit for Jeff Dettmann, will be held from 4 to 11 p.m. at the Hamburg Community Hall. Tim Orth MF event

SATURDAY, MARCH 29 – The Tim Orth Memorial Foundation will hold its 16th annual Jam the Gym basketball / silent auction fundraising event at Glencoe-Silver Lake High School. Tree of Life Hymn Fest.

SUNDAY, MARCH 30 – Trinity Lutheran Church (513 Madison SE) in Watertown celebrates hymns of faith and the season’s arrival of spring, at its 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. services. Joining the Worship Choir and congregation with special music is soprano Lauren Lammers, a Berneking Scholar graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Master’s in Vocal Performance. The Tree of Life Hymn Festival services are under the direction of Joyce Harding, Minister of Music at Trinity Lutheran.

‘Save Sidco’ fundraiser

SUNDAY, MARCH 30 – Sidco 4×4, an automotive business in Glencoe, burned to the ground on Jan. 20. To help the business rebuild, a family-friendly bake sale fundraiser will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lola’s Lakehouse in Waconia. Games, face painting and crazy hair for kids. Gardening classes

MARCH 31 & APRIL 1 – The Carver/Scott Master Gardeners will be teaching a class on lawn care on March 31 and a class on attracting song birds on April 1 at the Waconia Library at 6:30 p.m. No registration / fee is required to attend.

Women of Waconia

THURSDAY, APRIL 3 – Women of Waconia (formerly known as Waconia Area Women of Today) is a group of volunteer women that come together for community service and socializing among its members. Members can choose what service projects are of interest to them and new ideas are encouraged. Early Childhood screen.

APRIL 3-4 – Early Childhood Screening is offered by District 110 staff that checks a child’s overall development and health. Recommended screening age is between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 years. Screening will take place from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on April 3 and 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on April 4 at the ECFC, 520 Industrial Blvd. Info: 442-0613.

Thrift Shoppe open

LHS production

APRIL 4-6 – The Mayer Lutheran High School Drama Department will perform “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” a dramatization of the book by C. S. Lewis, at 7 p.m. April 4-5 and at 2 p.m. and April 6 at the Mayer Lutheran Fine Arts Center. Tickets at the door.

Dairy Day Dinner

SATURDAY, APRIL 5 – The 62nd annual Carver County Dairy Day Dinner and Princess Coronation will be held under the theme “Join our Team in 2014!” at the Cologne Community Center. Book signing, reading

SATURDAY, APRIL 5 – Gary C. Newton, a professor at Crown College in St. Boni, recently published the children’s book “The Adventures of Spunky and Dunky and Buddy Bear: Rescued at Last.” He will hold a book signing and story reading at Mocha Monkey in downtown Waconia. Newton will read the story at 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Faith Renewal event

APRIL 6-10 – A Faith Renewal/Parish Mission will be held at the Catholic parishes of St. Boniface and St. Mary of Czestochowa from April 6-10. The theme, God’s Wondrous Love, will be presented by Fr. Lon Konold, OMI. Suicide support group

TUESDAY, APRIL 8 – The Suicide Bereavement Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Waconia Moravian Church (209 E 2nd St.). Open to anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.
