Elizabeth Betty Anderson, 75, of rural Gaylord passed away Tuesday, April 1, at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato.
Elizabeth Betty (Luedloff) Anderson was born on April 27, 1938, in Glencoe. She was the daughter of Carl and Anna (Lenzen) Luedloff. Betty was baptized as an infant on June 12, 1938, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 30, 1952, both at the United Church of Christ in Bongards. Betty grew up in rural Norwood Young America. She was a graduate of Norwood Young America High School. After high school, she was employed at Tonka Toys.
On Oct. 27, 1963, Betty was united in marriage to Roger Anderson at the United Church of Christ in Bongards. After their marriage, the couple farmed in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County. She helped Roger on the farm and worked at Big Stone Canning in Arlington. She was a hard worker, raising 500-750 laying hens and selling the eggs to Rosenbergs Egg Plant in Gaylord. Betty and Roger retired from farming in 1986. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Betty and Roger were blessed with four children. The couple shared 43 years of marriage before Roger passed away on March 11, 2007.
Betty was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She was also a member of the Camper Trampers in New Ulm, and Kato Wheels Club.
Betty enjoyed embroidery, camping, snowmobiling, was an animal lover, especially cats and dogs, talking on the phone, going to town for lunch, polka and waltzing, watching her soap operas especially Dallas, and baking. She made the best homemade bread, coffee cake, chocolate chip cookies and cream puffs. Betty always liked to watch Channel 12 News. She was a kind hearted and very giving person. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Betty passed away after a brief battle with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia on Tuesday, April 1, at Immanuel St. Josephs Hospital in Mankato at the age of 75 years. Blessed be her memory.
Betty is survived by her children, Duane Anderson and his wife, Kris of Morgan, Maryann Nelson and her husband, Christopher of Le Sueur, Mark Anderson and his wife, Melanie of Gaylord, and Michael Anderson and his wife, Val of Mankato; 13 grandchildren, Desirre Brunz, Nicolas Phillips, Amanda Anderson, Elizabeth Anderson, Carl Anderson, Tyler Phillips, Roger L. Anderson, Irene Anderson, Ben Nelson, Andy Nelson, Maryann Anderson, Jacob Anderson, and Sarah Anderson; siblings, Herman Luedloff and his wife, Vivian of Belle Plaine, and Charles Luedloff and his wife, Dee of Portland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Anna Luedloff; husband, Roger Anderson; siblings, Ed Luedloff and his wife, Margaret, Earl Luedloff and his wife, Mae, Merlin Luedloff, Viola Riebe and her husband, Bill, Alice Arndt and her husband, Ray.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the church cemetery.
Pastor Carl Bruihler officiated the service with organist Kara Scholla. Congregational Hymns were Amazing Grace, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, and Just As I Am. Honorary casket bearers were Elroy Lenzen, Jon Luedloff, Marvin Riebe, Warren Phren, Kenny Eckstrand and Hilly Bianchi. Casket bearers were Carl Anderson, Roger Anderson, Nicolas Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Tim Krohn and Charlie Eckstrand.
