Lyla Marie Schwalbe, age 85, of Otsego, Minn., passed away at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, Minn., on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Funeral service on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 11 a.m. at The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo. Pastor Roger Klemz will officiate. Casket Bearers will be Roger Wolter, Lori Hoglund, Jennifer Trittabaugh, Michael Trittabaugh, Justin Krueger and Ryan Krueger. Visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Interment Watertown Cemetery, Watertown, Minn.
Lyla was born on Nov. 22, 1928 in Hollywoood Township, Carver County, the daughter of Fredrick W. and Wilhelmina K. Freutel Kuenzel. She was baptized on Feb. 3, 1929 and confirmed on April 5, 1942 both at The Evangelical Reformed Church in Lester Prairie. She married Hilton Schwalbe on Jan. 29, 1948 at The Evangelical Reformed Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota.
She enjoyed dancing, reading, cards, games, having garage sales, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband: Hilton P. Schwalbe, her parents: Fred and Minnie Kuenzel, son, Guy H. Schwalbe, brothers: Melvin, John and Glen Kuenzel, in laws: Della Kuenzel and Ann Kuenzel (wives of John Kuenzel), Jeanette Kuenzel (wife of Ortwin Kuenzel and Ruben Schumacher (husband of Opal Schumacher).
Survived by a son: Owen Schwalbe of St. Michael, Minn.; daughters, Gail (Dennis )Trittabaugh of Delano, Minn., Faye (Carl) Rothenberger of Delano, Minn., and Donna (Jeff) Krueger of Otsego, Minn.; grandchildren, Roger (Michelle) Wolter, Lori (Joe Hoglund) Wolter, Jennifer Trittabaugh, Michael (Andrea)Trittabaugh, Justin Krueger and Ryan Krueger; great-grandchildren, Samantha Trittabaugh, Taylor Hoglund, Anthony Trittabaugh and Lance Hoglund; a sister: Opal Schumacher and brothers: Ortwin Kuenzel, Duane (Carolyn) Kuenzel; many other relatives and friends.
