The City of Waconia holds a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Phase II permit from the MN Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) with the goal of reducing pollutant concentrations to surface waters. The City has prepared a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and annually solicits public input on the Plan. Citizens may participate in the annual meeting and to report general concerns regarding the SWPPP or specific information on illicit discharges within the community. Citizens may express concerns orally at the meeting or submit concerns in writing prior to the meeting. The City must consider citizen input and make appropriate adjustments to the SWPPP prior to submitting its annual report to the MPCA.
The meeting will be held as part of a City Council Meeting at 6:00 PM, Monday, June 2, 2014. The agenda and SWPPP are available from the City or on the Citys website. Written comments/concerns on the SWPPP should be submitted by May 23, 2014 to City Hall, 201 South Vine St., Waconia, Minnesota 55387. For more information, contact the City at (952) 442-2615, Extension 1101, or go to www.waconia.org.
