Lorena E. Henning, age 97, of Holland, Mich., and formerly New Germany, Minn., passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 in Michigan.
Funeral Service Friday May 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating; visitation one hour prior to the service at the church; interment St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery.
Lorena Elsie Barlau-Henning was born on June 10, 1916 the daughter of Otto and Martha (Lemke) Barlau. She was united in Marriage to Gerhard L. Henning at St. Marks Lutheran Church on Sept. 10, 1936 by Rev. Theo Rolf.
Lorena was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandma and great-Grandma. Her passion was embroidery and quilting with her sisters. She enjoyed baking and trying new recipes, gardening and flowers.
Lorena is preceded in death by her parents Otto and Martha Barlau; infant son; son Dennis Henning; husband Gerhard Henning; brothers Hubert and Walter Barlau; sister Edna Barlau-Mielke.
Lorena is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-In-Law Charles and Marilyn Bengtson of Holland, Mich.; grandchildren Debra Baker of Byron, Michigan, Stacy (Pete) Lounsbury of Spring Lake, Mich., Chad Bengtson of Holland, Mich.; great-grandchildren Dakota, Jenna and Dylan Baker, Evan and Kristen Lounsbury; sister Lyla Quaas of Mayer; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Serving as casket bearers are Chad Bengtson, Pete Lounsbury, Dakota Baker, Evan Lounsbury, Dylan Baker, Keith Quaas and Kevin Quaas.
