Robert Trick, 74

Robert Elmer Trick, 74, of Norwood Young America, passed away Thursday, May 15, at his childhood home in Norwood Young America.
Robert Elmer Trick was born on June 26, 1939, in Young America. He was the son of Carl, Sr. and Hannah (Gesell) Trick. Robert was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth both at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. He received his education in Norwood Young America, attending St. Johns Lutheran Church Parochial School and Central High School.
Robert entered active military service in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and then served his country in Vietnam as an Army Ranger Specialist 5. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1968 after returning from his second tour of duty in Vietnam. He then continued serving in the Army National Guard and the US Army Reserves for another 10 years.
On Sept. 12, 1964, Robert was united in marriage to Carol Voight at Luck Lutheran in Luck, Wisconsin. Their union was blessed with two children, Cindy and Laurie. In 1987, Robert moved back to Norwood Young America, into his childhood home where he still lived.
Robert worked as a boiler engineer at Bureau of Mines and several other companies in Minnesota in the 70s and 80s. He also worked part-time as a licensed locksmith from time-to-time. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union. Robert was a health nut; he enjoyed biking, swimming, exercising and being active. He also loved cars. Robert treasured the time spent with his immediate and extended family, especially his four grandchildren.
Robert passed away on Thursday, May 15, at his childhood home in Norwood Young America at the age of 74 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Robert is survived by his children, Cindy Gehl and her husband, Mike, of Farmington and Laurie Tye and her husband, Steve, of Roseville; grandchildren, Alex Bury, Annika Gehl, Haley Bury and Karina Gehl; sister, Sharon Strecker of Fresno, Calif.; sister-in-law, Magda Trick of Junction City, Kans.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hannah Trick Sr.; brother, Carl Trick Jr.; and sister, Joannie Maggard and her husband, Harold.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 21, at 11 a.m., at Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America with interment at 2 p.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Pastor James Gomez officiated the service with organist Cheryl Andrix. Congregational Hymns were How Great Thou Art, Lift High the Cross and Amazing Grace. Casket bearers were Mike Gehl, Alex Bury, Jeff Trick and Scott Trick.
