Pearl (Haas) Bruesehoff, 81

Pearl J. (Haas) Bruesehoff, age 81, of Young America, passed away quietly on May 22, 2014 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, Minn.
Funeral Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Phil Wagner officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.
Pearl Jane Schultz was born on March 13, 1933 to Victor and Rosa Schultz in their home near Belle Plaine. She was baptized on April 7, 1933 by Rev. P. J. Haupt at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. She was confirmed in her faith on April 14, 1946 at St. John’s, also by Rev. Haupt. Pearl attended grade school at District #42 near her home, and high school in Belle Plaine. She graduated from Ridgewater College and worked as an executive secretary/office manager.
On July 26, 1952 Pearl was united in marriage to Arvid Haas by Reverend O. F. Herder at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine. Their marriage was blessed with seven children. They farmed in Belle Plaine for 12 years. In 1965 they bought a larger farm south of Norwood where they farmed until Arvid’s death on Jan. 11, 1989.
On Sept. 18, 1993 Pearl was united in marriage to Lester Bruesehoff at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. Rev. Mahlum performed the ceremony. They bought a home in Norwood where they lived until Lester’s death on April 14, 2007. Pearl continued to live in the home until she suffered a stroke in May 2014.
Pearl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia, where she was an active member of the LWML Ladies Aid for many years and held multiple offices. Pearl was also a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cologne, where she attended services with Lester. Pearl enjoyed making mission quilts and collected baby clothes for mission layettes. Over the years Pearl made more than 500 quilts for missions.
Pearl loved spending time with family and extended family and spending time in her lake home at Howard Lake. She enjoyed traveling (Alaska was her favorite trip) to multiple countries, in addition to the United States and Canada. Pearl also enjoyed playing cards, dancing, sewing, gardening and going out to lunch with friends.
Preceding Pearl in death were her parents, daughter Sheryl Jean Haas in 1971, son Lyndon Mark Haas in 2009, husbands Arvid Haas and Lester Bruesehoff, brothers Gerald and John Schultz, brother-in-law Johnny Stoeckmann and son-in-law John E. Murphy, M.D.
Surviving Pearl are daughters Susan Murphy of West Covina, Calif., Sandra (Gene) Horman of Glencoe, Lois (Tim) of Bismarck, N.D., sons Allan (Christine) of Norwood and Paul (LeAnn) of Norwood, grandchildren Samuel (Tonia) Otto of Hutchinson, Desiarae and Jasmin Haas of Norwood, stepchildren Gail (Rod) Stein of Brooklyn Park, John Bruesehoff of Norwood, Gary Bruesehoff of Victoria, James (Missy) Bruesehoff of Warren, Mich., step-grandchildren Eric Stein, Michael Stein (Amanda), Amy Stein, Chad Bruesehoff and David Bruesehoff, brother Lyle (Carol) Schultz of Belle Plaine, sisters-in-law Marcella Schultz of Arlington and Charlotte Schultz of Lakeville, Malinda Stoeckmann of Norwood, in addition to other friends and relatives.
Serving as casket bearers are Sam Otto, Cathy Stien, Lisa Bougie, John Bruesehoff, Eric Stein, Michael Stein.
