Round up the family, get those bikes out and tuned for the BikeKonnect!
Carver County Parks Department, city of Chaska Parks & Recreation Department and the city of Victoria Parks Department are working collaboratively to Konnect families, Konnect trails and Konnect communities through this family bike ride and summer kick-off event.
Bicyclists of all ages and abilities are welcomed at this nine-mile family ride starting in Victoria at the Southwest Regional trail head (located in town near the Victoria House) and ending at the Chaska Community Center (on top of the hill along Engler Blvd, east of Chaska middle school). Riders will encounter a leisurely ride while traveling along county and city trail systems which connect the two communities, and will also include convenient rest areas at local city parks along the way. This event is not a bike race.
Once riders have arrived at the Chaska Community Center, fun outdoor recreation activities will be available as well as refreshments and live music with The Tuxedo Band. Test your fears in scaling the portable rock climbing wall, practice your archery skills, dance and sing along with the live band and enjoy a cold beverage and something yummy to eat!
There is a $10 per person event fee, which includes a tech-T shirt (as supplies allow), access to all the outdoor recreation activities, transportation (if needed) from the route end in Chaska back to the route start in Victoria.
Mark your calendars and register today (register at www.chaskacommunitycenter.com or www.ci.victoria.mn.us; assistance is available at 952-448-5633). The event will be held on Saturday, June 21 from 3 to 7 p.m. (all riders must be done by 5 p.m.). Bikes and riding gear will not be supplied; participants should come prepared.
Event coordinators will have restroom locations and water-stop areas along the route. Organizers hope to see you and your family at this unique summer kick-off event!
