Several community groups are working together to plan Spass-Tagen, a summer festival to be held in St. Bonifacius on Saturday, June 28. After a successful event last year, when Spass-Tagen returned for the first time in 29 years, organizers are hoping for an even bigger turnout in 2014.
The event will run all day and evening with most activities being held in Missile Park. A beer tent and multiple food offerings will be available throughout the day. Vendors and local organizations will be selling hot dogs, brats, hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches and a variety of festival foods. A BBQ contest is also being planned.
A trio of bands will provide musical entertainment throughout the day, including Jolly Ramblers, Rhythm Kings and 3 Beer Warmup.
A Farmers Market and craft vendors will be set up for the day. Weiner Dog races, bingo, children’s games, a Bouncy House, face painting and roving magician Charlie Hagen will also be part of the fun.
Dojo Karate will provide karate demos and self-defense instruction for adults and kids. A baseball game will pit St. Boni against Waconia.
Commemorative buttons, T-shirts and mugs will be sold to help support the event. Watch your local merchants for button sales as it gets closer to the event.
Groups who are involved in planning Spass-Tagen include St. Boni Community Development Group, St. Boni Lions, Westonka Jaycees, St. Boni Legion, St. Boni Sportsmen’s Club, St. Boni Fire Department, St. Boni Historical Society and Wildwood Design.
Watch for a complete schedule as the event gets closer. If you’d like to volunteer to help at the event or if you would like to be a vendor, contact Fred Keller at email@example.com.
