Thursday, May 29 was a special evening for all eighth grade graduates at Trinity Lutheran School in Waconia, but three students in particular received special honors.

Joshua Marlatt, Katelyn Cooper and Rachel Gassen all received prestigious Mark Awards.

The Trinity Mark Award of Merit was first inaugurated in 1955 by Mr. Mark to recognize students for their high scholastic achievement and character. This annual scholarship award has been presented to Trinity Lutheran School recipients over the past 57 years.

The 2014 Mark Award of Merit for Academic Achievement was awarded to Marlatt and Cooper. The 2014 Mark Award for Christian Leadership, for demonstration of Christ’s love in leadership, character, and service, went to Marlatt and Gassen. Trinity officials are proud of the Mark Award recipients and the academic achievements of the entire eighth grade class of 2014.

A Foundation for Success

Trinity works hard to prepare students for success academically and spiritually. Rigorous academics, balanced with individual student goals based on MAPs testing, allow students to reach their full potential. Emphasis is placed on science, math, and the implementation of technology in the classroom.

As a representation of the quality education received at Trinity, it’s notable that three of the four top graduates from Mayer Lutheran High School, two of the top five graduates from Waconia High School, and two Holy Family honors graduates all received their educational foundation from Trinity Lutheran School.
