Richard Herrmann, 66

Richard L. Rich Herrmann, age 66, of Norwood Young America, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral Service Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America with Rev. David Winter officiating; visitation Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the service at the church; interment St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.
Richard was born on June 23, 1947 in Glencoe, Minn., the son of George Jr. and Verona (Jenneke) Herrmann. He was baptized on July 6, 1947 at Church of Peace in Norwood, Minn., and was confirmed on March 26, 1961 at Church of Peace in Norwood. Richard was united in marriage to Carol J. Wolter on May 8, 1971 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Young America, Minn.
Richard was a loving husband, dad and grandpa. He enjoyed being with his family, going camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, sports and playing cards.
Richard worked at Wendorf Implement and Kraemers Mobile before serving in the United States Army from 1966-68. During this time he completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. When returning, Rich decided to attend Lees Barber School and graduated in 1971. He then opened Richs Barber Shop and enjoyed visiting with his customers while cutting their hair for 43 years. One of his greatest loves was driving school bus, which he also did for 43 years. Rich served his community by being a member of the Young America Fire Department for 20 years and served as chief for eight of those years. He served as cemetery sexton, usher and bus driver for St. Johns Lutheran Church as well.
Richard is preceded in death by his father George Herrmann Jr.; mother-in-law Erna Wolter.
Richard is survived by his loving family; wife Carol Herrmann of Norwood Young America; sons and daughters-in-law Troy and Julie Herrmann of Cologne, Brian Herrmann of Carver, Matt and Erin Herrmann of Lester Prairie; grandchildren Logan, Kylie, and Kassi Herrmann, Caiden, Bennett, and Teagan Herrmann; mother Verona Herrmann of Norwood Young America; brother Robert Herrmann of Austin, Texas; father-in-law Ardell Wolter of Norwood Young America; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Maynard and Barb Rolf of Pelican Rapids, Lois and Jerry Tiggelaar of Norwood Young America, Lynette and Dennis Feltmann of Norwood Young America, Susan and Bert Wagner of Stewart; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Serving as Casket Bearers are Richs nephews, Chad Feltmann, Chris Feltmann, Corey Feltmann, Alan Rolf, Dan Rolf, Mark Rolf, Jeff Wagner.
Serving as honorary Pall Bearers are NYA Fire Department and Central Public School Bus Drivers.
