Blazers start season 2-7

The Mayer Blazers amateur baseball team is off and running for the 2014 season. Sitting at 2-7 so far, the Blazers have struggled in the early weeks, but picked up big wins over St. Boni and Norwood in late May. They are currently fifth in the CRVL North standings. Last week, the Blazers dropped a 10-0 game to Waconia in eight innings, spurred by seven defensive errors. The Mayer offense managed three hits, but couldn’t get a runner across the plate. Next up for the Blazers is a Sunday, June 22 game at Glencoe and a June 27 game in Hamburg. The Blazers will return home to Mayer Lutheran High School to host a rematch with the Lakers on Sunday, June 29. Above, Mitchell Baumann takes a hard cut during the Blazers’ May 11 game in Waconia.
