The Carver/Scott Extension Master Gardeners are staffing a garden help desk at the Waconia Library on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the summer. Bring questions and samples.


Y@H Picnic in the Park


THURSDAY, JUNE 19 – Young At Heart (Y@H) Club members and their guests will enjoy their annual Picnic in the Park at 5:30 p.m. and Music in the Park, “Jazz on the Prairie,” at 7 p.m. Sign-up at the Safari Island front desk. THURSDAY, JUNE 19 – Waconia Parks & Recreation hosts Rock on Ice from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Waconia Ice Arena. There is a fee to attend.


Mission trip fundraiser


THURSDAY, JUNE 19 – An Open House will be held at the home of Brian and Lori Stangret, 345 William Lake Shore Drive, Waconia, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and listen to Brain Laidlaw and Ashely Hanson a folk/American act called The Family Trade Duo. Fundraiser for the Moravian Costa Rican Mission Trip.

THURSDAY, JUNE 19 – The NAMI support group will meet at 7 p.m. at the Waconia Moravian Church located at 209 2nd St. E.


Auditions for Oliver!


JUNE 19-21 – Centre Stage Theater in NYA presents Oliver! and organizers are looking for boys and girls (ages 8-13), teens and adults who enjoy acting, singing and dancing as well as musicians, stage crew, costumers and hair and make up people. Audition dates are June 19-20 from 4 to 8 p.m. and June 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stop at any of these times for an audition. Performance dates are Aug. 14-16. Info: (952) 467-7391.


St. Boniface sale


JUNE 19-21 – St. Boniface Catholic United Financial and St. Boniface Parish are sponsoring their 15th annual Rummage sale on June 19, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., June 20, 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. and June 21, 8 a.m.-noon (bag sale). The event will be held in the school gym (8801 Wildwood Ave.) in St. Bonifacius.


4-H Feast for the Festival


FRIDAY, JUNE 20 – 4-H Feast for the Festival: Spaghetti Dinner Friday, June 20th, 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia. Sponsored by Carver County 4-H Interstate Exchange. LW Band Festival


SATURDAY, JUNE 21 – The 16th annual Lake Waconia Band Festival will be held in Waconia. The first of 18 visiting bands will begin performing at 6 p.m. at City Square Park. Parade route: Main Street from Orange to Walnut Street and then down Walnut from Main to W 3rd Street ending at the fairgrounds. Performance areas: City Square Park, between Vine and Maple streets (judging area), and near Bayview Elementary. Open to the public. Reserved bleacher seating available.


Plant, bake, craft sale


SATURDAY, JUNE 21 – A Plant/Bake/Craft Sale will be held at Promise Community Church (141 Depot Drive, Waconia) to help raise funds for the Haiti Missions team from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Info: (952) 201-3632.

‘Cheering for Charlie’


SATURDAY, JUNE 21 – A fundraiser benefit will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Mayer Community Center. The benefit will raise money for Charlie Hoeft of Mayer who is in need of a kidney transplant. Benefit will include silent auction, hog roast, games, music and a cash bar. Info: Hoeftfamily.com.


Local book signing


SATURDAY, JUNE 21 – Authors Diane Lynch and Dick Osgood will present on and sign their new book, “Minnesota Winery Stories: Minnesota’s Wineries, Wines & Winemakers,” published by North Star Press, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Parley Lake Winery (8350 Parley Lake Road, Waconia), which is featured in the book. SUNDAY, JUNE 22 – The Carver County Lutheran Laymen’s League will hold a fish dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mayer Lutheran High School. Proceeds benefit Orphan Grain Train.

SUNDAY, JUNE 22 – St. Mark Lutheran Church of New Germany will be celebrating 100 years of God’s Blessings with a 9 a.m. Choral Service and a 2 p.m. Divine Worship Service with Holy Communion. All are welcome.

Public Health Shot Clinic


MONDAY, JUNE 23 – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th St., Chaska) provides immunizations, or shots, to residents who don’t have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover shots, from 3 to 5 p.m. Shots for adults and children available.
