An endorsement swap occurred at the DFL endorsement meeting for Minnesota House District 47A held at Victoria City Hall on Monday, June 16. Previously endorsed candidate Keith Pickering officially gave his endorsement to Matthew Gieseke, a Waconia native and recent graduate of the University of Minnesota.

Gieseke, 22, hopes to be a fresh and independent voice for the people of District 47A.

As an opponent of the “tax-and-spend” style approach, Gieseke hopes to shed new light on the most important issues to Minnesotans. He hopes to make education a priority for Minnesota. He believes that education is fundamental to our success as a state and as a nation.

Gieseke also hopes to strengthen the middle class by improving the small business tax code and by alleviating property taxes on a majority of Minnesotans. Gieseke believes that corporations need to be more accountable, and he wants to take this fight to St Paul.

“We need a government that protects people from exploitation, a government that recognizes the needs of the people and speaks on their behalf,” said Gieseke during the endorsement meeting on Monday.

After receiving the endorsement on June 16, Gieseke announced he will hold a campaign kick off event from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia on Satuday, June 28. To learn more about Gieseke’s campaign, visit www.matthewgieseke.org.
