The Mayer amateur baseball team added two losses to the season record last week, dropping games on the road in Cologne and Glencoe. The Blazers are now 2-9 this season and fifth in the CRVL North standings.

The Blazers took a hard fall against Cologne on June 18, falling in a 12-2 game.

Mayer also lost to Glencoe in a close 4-2 game on Sunday, June 22 on the road. Team manager Joe Berrios said the Blazers hit the ball well, but couldn’t get more runs across the plate.

Adam Parker led the Blazers at the plate, going 3-4 with two doubles. Matt Schreder pitched for Mayer.

“But we struggled to get extra outs defensively,” Berrios said.

The Blazers are gearing up for a busy weekend, with games in Hamburg Friday night and in New Germany Saturday afternoon, before returning home to host Waconia on Sunday at 2 p.m. Mayer will travel to Young America for a 7:30 p.m. game on Tuesday, July 1 before breaking for the holiday. The Blazers will be back in action at home on July 12 against Winsted.
