Garden Help Desk

 

The Carver/Scott Extension Master Gardeners are staffing a garden help desk at the Waconia Library on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the summer. Bring questions and samples.

 

First Friday Service

 

The First Friday Recovery Service will be held at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church (800 Waconia Parkway N) in Waconia. All welcome to attend this informal worship service designed for anyone looking for support or healing with an emphasis on recovery from addictions. Personal care givers and concerned persons of people struggling with addictions will also find this service meaningful. Good music, message; casual, comfortable. No service July 4. A Taste of Minnesota

 

JULY 3-6 – A Taste of Minnesota will be held at the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia. Event features 100+ menu items from 24 food and beverage vendors, performances from 29 musical acts of varying genres, and one of the best fireworks displays in the state. Headlining musical acts include Soul Asylum, Starship, Halestorm and Joe Nichols. Fireworks displays will take place nightly at 10:20 p.m. Info: www.atasteofmn.com.

FRIDAY, JULY 4 – The annual 4th of July fireworks show will be shot off of the east side of Lake Waconia Regional Park at dusk. Rain date: July 5.

 

Pet adoption event

Freshwater VBS

 

JULY 7-11 – Freshwater Church is taking VBS outside the church walls and into five community parks — the Fab 5 Club — during the week of July 7-11. Daytime options run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at City Square Park in Waconia, Hunters Crest Linden Park in Minnetrista and Hyland Park in Watertown. Evening options run from 6 to 8 p.m. at Missile Park in St. Boni and Surfside Beach in Mound. Secret agent theme called “Agency D3 – Discover, Decide, Defend” and your child will gather evidence about Jesus all week. Register at freshwaterchurch.org.

Suicide support group

 

TUESDAY, JULY 8 – The Suicide Bereavement Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Waconia Moravian Church (209 E 2nd St.). Open to anyone who has lost a loved one to suicide.

 

CUC potluck picnic

 

TUESDAY, JULY 8 – St. Joseph Catholic United Council will hold its annual Pot Luck Picnic at the KC Park (9055 Klein Drive) at 5:30 p.m. Senior Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer Michael Ahles and Sales Rep Peter Ryan will attend.  Bring a dish to share; refreshments will be provided.
