Three suspects have been discovered in recent burglaries in NYA, with one of them charged.
Anthony Scott Christensen, 21, of St. Bonifacius has been charged with third degree burglary and receiving stolen property while two juvenile males, ages 16 and 17, are also believed to be involved in the burglaries and charges are pending.
Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson reports that on July 3, deputies responded to a report of a burglary at the West Carver County Community Pool. During the investigation, deputies discovered pry marks on the door frame and a damaged door.
On July 8, sheriff’s deputies received a call of a found credit card. The deputies recognized the card as having been stolen during a recent burglary of The Olde Mill and Norah Bean Coffee.
Based on the new information, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence in NYA where Christensen was arrested. They recovered property that had been stolen during several recent burglaries, including the burglary of the West Carver County Community Pool, as well as cash that had been reported stolen from an area residence.
Deputies recovered approximately $3,100 of stolen property, including cash, metal cashbox, food items, credit card, two handbags, glass figurines, jewelry, cell phone, laptop and various other items from the burglaries.
“It is because of citizens who recognize unusual or suspicious incidents and take the time to report it to law enforcement that we’re able to solve crimes and keep our communities safe,” said Sheriff Olson.
