Deputies respond to gunshot in New Germany

An aggravated assault was reported in New Germany on Sunday, July 27.

According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a gunshot occurring in a residence on the 300 block of Park St. E in New Germany at about 8:47 p.m.

The reporting party/victim, a 30-year-old male from Dassel, told deputies he had been at the house drinking with friends when an adult male used a 12 guage shotgun and fired a single round at him, missing him and putting a hole in the adjacent wall. The victim was uninjured.

The suspect, a 51-year-old male from New Germany, admitted he fired the shotgun at the victim.

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Carver County Jail where he awaits formal charges. Deputies interviewed the witnesses and processed the crime scene for physical evidence. They will continue to gather evidence and investigate the incident.
