Closure of CSAH 61 now underway in Carver County

A3-Hwy61ClosureCMYKMotorists near Chanhassen started encountering a full closure and detour for both directions of Carver County Highway 61 at 6 a.m. Monday, July 28.

Both directions of County Highway 61 will close to the east of Great Plains Boulevard at Bluff Creek as construction crews begin Phase 1 of the Southwest Reconnection Project. Great Plains Boulevard will remain open north to Pioneer Trail from County Highway 61. The County Highway 101 river crossing will remain open to County Highway 61 for motorists traveling between Shakopee and Eden Prairie.

There will be no access to the County Highway 101 river crossing between Chaska and Shakopee.

This closure is expected to last eight weeks. The contractor has proposed to change the construction phasing of the project, which will now include portions of Phase 2 and 3 with this initial Phase 1 work. More information in regards to the revised construction phases can be found on the project website once the changes are finalized.

Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour in order to bypass this closure.
