BUTTON ELECTION1A total of 5,255 citizens out of 57, 146 registered voters in Carver County voted in the Primary Election on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

In races of note, Republican Jim Nash won the GOP House District 47A race against Bob Frey. According to the unofficial results released by Carver County, Nash won the race with 1,406 votes (59.93 percent) to Frey’s 940 votes (40.07 percent). Nash will face DFL candidate Matthew Gieseke in the General Election on Nov. 4.

In the Carver County Commissioner District 4 race, incumbent Tim Lynch (909 votes) and Frank Long (504 votes) advanced to the General Election. Al Leuthner (117 votes) finished third. The results create a rematch between Lynch and Long, who faced each other in the General Election for this Commissioner position in 2012. Lynch won that race, receiving 5,979 votes to Long’s 3,414 votes.

In notable GOP races, Carver County voters put their support behind Tom Emmer for U.S. Representative (6th District), Jeff Johnson for governor, and Mike McFadden for U.S. Senator. Voters also supported Republican Scott Newman for Attorney General. On the DFL side, Carver County voters gave the most support to Steve Simon for Secretary of State and Rebecca Otto for State Auditor.
