Jack was born on October 16, 1996 in Waconia the son of Jon T. and Marcia A. (Scott) Pogatchnik.

Jack was a senior at Waconia Senior High School. He was an AP Scholar and was also taking college classes while attending high school. He played soccer, ran cross-country and was on the trap shooting team. Jack also worked as a lifeguard at the local community center. Wing-Wednesdays, watching the Simpsons, working on his AP art projects and attending concerts with friends were some of his favorite things to do. He planned on attending the University of Minnesota in the fall, following in his sister's footsteps. While at college, he hoped to major in Political Science and Spanish and study abroad in Argentina.

Jack was a voracious reader and loved to discuss and think about all that he learned and enjoyed from his reading. He traveled to all 50 states with his family and his sense of adventure was sharpened on these family trips as he also traveled to Spain with school, and to France to visit his sister. Above all Jack loved his family and especially his grandmothers. He made time to visit, go to movies and spend time with them whenever possible. He loved family gatherings and nothing was better than a night at home with his parents and sisters watching a movie. He was also very kind and compassionate especially towards animals; he recently adopted a polar bear. Jack believed it was his obligation to help make the world a better place.

Jack was preceded in death by his grandfather Jack Pogatchnik.
