Flora A. Burandt, 87

Flora A. Burandt age 87 of Norwood Young America passed away Friday August 21, 2015 at her home in Norwood Young America, Minn.

Funeral Service Wednesday August 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church (101 SE Second Avenue) in Norwood Young America with Rev. David Winter officiating. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment in the Mau Memorial Cemetery.

Flora Augusta Arndt Burandt was born on May 19, 1928, in Young America, MN the daughter of Arthur and Anna (Barlau) Arndt. She was baptized on June 3, 1928 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Young America by Rev. M.F. Abraham. Flora attended St. John's Lutheran School and was confirmed on March 29, 1942 at St. John's Lutheran Church by Rev. W.P. Kramer. Flora graduated from the Central High School class of 1946. After graduation she was employed at the Veterans Administration in Minneapolis. She met Alvin Burandt, and after a few years they were united in marriage on July 26, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. W.P. Kramer officiating. Their marriage was blessed with one son Ivan. Flora and Alvin resided in Waconia for a few years and decided to move to Flora's Family Farm. In 1959 they moved to their current home on Central Avenue in Norwood Young America. Flora worked at 3M in Hutchinson and retired in 1989 after 30 years of employment. Flora and Alvin just celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Flora was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church her entire life. She put in many hours volunteering at Bethesda Thrift Store.

Flora enjoyed fishing, bingo, gardening, canning, baking, and going to the casino with her friends. She liked to play sheephead, softball and enjoyed watching games. She loved being guided on her fishing trips by her son Ivan. Flora along with Alvin cherished the time they babysat for Al and Debbie Prchal's children.

Flora was preceded in death by parents Arthur and Anna Arndt; brothers and sisters-in-law Raymond and Alice Arndt, Herbert and Janette Arndt, Ervin Arndt, Arthur Arndt, Grace Arndt, Leona and Lester Burandt; father-in-law and mother-in-law Edwin and Ella Burandt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Pearl and Irvin Menden, John Kaufhold, Lester and Margaret Lenz, Raymond Dummer, Dennis and Margaret Burandt, Harvey and Darlene Tesch, Melvin Burandt, Bruce Kyes.

Flora is survived by her loving family: husband Alvin Burandt; son Ivan Burandt; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Ellen Arndt, Paula Arndt, Sylvia Dummer, Larry and Joyce Burandt, Annie Burandt, Diane Kyes, Karen and Marcel Gueningsman; many nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Serving as casket bearers Neil Dummer, Dale Dummer, Fred Lenz, Ron Arndt, Eugene Wolter, Bob Burandt and Allan Prchal.
