The Watertown-Mayer Royals hosted their first home game of the season on Friday, Sept. 9, competing against the Litchfield Dragons.

Senior Corey Jobe scored 18 touchdown points, Senior Adam Heilman scored 6 touchdown points, and sophomore Nick Juncewski scored 3 points kicking.

The Royals had a rough first quarter, but they put 7 points on the board in the second quarter and 7 points on the board in the third quarter.

Players showed a strong effort in the fourth quarter, scoring another 13 points, but that wasn’t enough to rise above the 24 points the Litchfield Dragons scored in the first half of the game.

The rally, which could have led to a win if the athletes put up a stronger defense, was reminiscent of the Royals’ first game against the Rockford Rockets. It may be up to the Royals to put more points on the board early in the game, to achieve their first win.

The final score versus Litchfield was 27-36, with the Dragons claiming the win. At game’s end, the Royals walked away with a 0-2 season record.

The Royals will go on to face the Hutchinson Tigers on Friday, Sept. 16.
