LTE: Local act of kindness makes wedding day

To the editor,
With Thanksgiving upon us, our family would like to express our gratitude to the wonderful folks of Waconia! Our son was married in late October and we were fortunate to have military guests from 10 states share the beautiful day with us. Waconia’s landscape was at peak color and the weather was perfect – a relief for all the guests wondering if they needed to bring winter clothing! Each and every one of our out of state guests told us how welcoming Waconia was and how kind, friendly and helpful their encounters were. They commented on how perfectly lovely our little town is and how they loved the American flags that line Main Street.

We want to share something very special that happened. We had guests arrive a couple days prior to the wedding, so about a dozen of us gathered at Lola’s for happy hour and dinner, where we had a wonderful time! When we were ready to leave, our waitress came over with tears in her eyes – a generous man at the bar had paid for our entire tab with cash so he could remain truly anonymous. We have told that he said, “It was the least I could do to thank the Marines for their service and sacrifice.”

On behalf of our family and our guests who were celebrating with us, thank you and may God bless you! Your generosity and kindness will always be remembered and please know that you gave us a very special memory of the wedding weekend.

Waconia, thank you! We are proud and blessed to call Waconia our “home, sweet home.”
