Members of the NYA West Carver Lions Club recently donated a bench in Willkommen Park. This donation was made as part of the Lions Club International Centennial Community Legacy Project.
In 2017 Lions Club International will be celebrating 100 years of service to our communities worldwide.  It is Lions Club International’s goal to serve 100 million people throughout our centennial year.
There are four categories of service to help accomplish this goal.  They are “Engaging our Youth,”, “Protecting the Environment”, Sharing the Vision”, and “Relieving the Hunger”.  The NYA West Carver Lions Club has done service projects in all four categories.  Our members participated in “Feed My Starving Children” and donated to the NYA Food Shelf.
Members have an ongoing project called “Children of our Community” that provides shoes/hats/coats/mittens/school supplies to any children in need in our schools.
They also clean up Willkommen Park and collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids to be refurbished and sent to people throughout the world who do not have access to eyeglasses and hearing aids.
As our service challenge motto says, “Where There’s a Need, There’s a Lion!”
