Central FFA sent a couple more teams off to compete at the Jan. 27 Career Development Events for Forestry and Small Animals, and did quite well.
The Central Forestry team covered all of the bases at the January CDE event with a team consisting of Matt Brinkman, CJ Dietzel, Alex Paulson,  Austin Pysick and Devin Schauer.
Forestry is a contest in which the individual, in addition to taking a written test, identifies tree and wood samples along with identifying equipment used in forestry such as a skidder and a clinometer.
One of the highlights was chapter treasurer Matt Brinkman, a senior, receiving first in the contest. Fellow senior Austin Pysick finished just outside the top 10 with only six points separating him from a ribbon.
Overall, the team got third and barely missed a trip to state, but Brinkman will go on as an individual to the state contest in April.
The small animal team consisted of Mikaylin Goetze, Malaya Weekley, Madison Hale, Sarah Heuer, and Abby Pysick.
Mikaylin placed the highest for Central, but they unfortunately missed the cut to advance to state.
Central’s FFA chapter is very proud of both teams and Matt Brinkman for their efforts on Jan. 27 and has high hopes for the future.
