Harold E. Latzig

Harold E. Latzig, age 87, of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Service Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany with Rev. Allan Holthus officiating; visitation Friday, March 17, 2017 from 4 – 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service all at the church; prayer service Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.; interment St. Mark Lutheran Cemetery in New Germany.
Harold was born on March 28, 1929 in Camden Twp. the son of Paul and Margaret (Koehler) Latzig. He was baptized on April 21, 1929 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by Rev. Rolf and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany by Rev. Rolf. On October 14, 1955 Harold was united in marriage to Marie Kopecky at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Watertown by Rev. Kramer.
Harold was a loyal lifetime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany, where he served as church elder, trustee and usher. He was in the United States Army from 1949-1952 during the time of the Korean War. Harold was a lifetime member of the New Germany America Legion Post #601.
Harold farmed for short time in his life, hauled milk and worked at Green Giant for 20 years as a mechanic. Some of the activities Harold enjoyed were playing cards, listening to old time music, quilting and watching westerns.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Margaret Latzig; stepmother Selma Latzig; son Gary Latzig; brothers and sisters Martha Ziermann, Elmer Latzig, Roy Latzig, Marcella Gebhardt; brothers-in-law Leland Schwartz, Orlando Gebhardt, Hilbert Ziermann, Alvin Kopecky; sister-in-law Ellen Latzig; father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank and Viola Kopecky.
Harold is survived by his loving family: wife Marie; daughter Margaret Buck of California; sons Linus Latzig and special friend Lori Goebel and her son Erik of New Germany; Lyle Latzig and friend James Stanley of Brooklyn Center; grandchildren Chris and Adam Buck; Lindsey and Josh Latzig; sister Hildegard Schwartz of Mayer; brothers and sisters-in-law Martin and Ruth Ann Latzig of Howard Lake, Roland and Carol Latzig of Norwood Young America, Lowell and Darlene Latzig of New Germany; Leona Latzig of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Sandy Kopecky of Lino Lakes, Harold Kopecky and friend Ann of Minneapolis, Donald and Rose Kopecky of Lake Havasu, AZ; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers are Jeff Schwartz, Laurie Larsen, Debra Vinkemeier, Joanne Sauter, Harvey Ziermann, Kenneth Schwartz, Jon Latzig, Brad Gebhardt.Honorary Casket Bearers are Elroy Latzig and Keith Ziermann.
