March 7 was a red letter day for two FFA members. Maddie Hale and Abbie Weckman tagged along with local Farm Bureau members to the annual Farm Bureau Day on the Hill held at the Minnesota State Capitol building.
This day is a day for Farm Bureau and FFA members to get up close with the legislature in order to discuss agricultural issues with their local representatives.
Hale and Weckman, dressed in FFA official dress, met several members including Scott Jensen, Cindy Pugh, Jim Nash, and Joe Hoppe.
Throughout their time in Saint Paul, Hale and Weckman were able to see the new Capitol and office renovations.
Overall, it was a new learning experience for both lucky FFA members.
The NYA FFA would like to thank the Farm Bureau for this wonderful opportunity.
In other exciting business, five other FFA members received free official jackets; these members filled in an application form to be considered, answering questions as to what the jacket would mean to them and how they are involved in chapter activities.
Having their own jacket means that members can feel like a more integrated part of the organization. It is something they can own for the rest of their high school careers and even the rest of their lives.
Recipients include chapter reporter Emma Dettmann, Victoria Simons, Mya Perez, Alex Paulson, and Sean Weckman.
NYA FFA is grateful for the opportunity to sponsor these FFA members in their future adventures.
