Orlando R. Tesch

Orlando R. Tesch, age 95 of Mayer, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home in Mayer.
Funeral service was Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Watertown Evangelical Free Church in Watertown with Rev. Dan Osborn officiating; visitation was from 12 noon until the time of the service at church; interment in the Watertown Public Cemetery in Watertown.
Orlando was born on March 23, 1922 in Mayer, the son of Reuben and Esther (Gongoll) Tesch. On November 8, 1944, Orlando was united in marriage to Lenora Koehler at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Orlando lived on the family farm his entire life, from birth to death, having purchased it from his parents in the early 1960s. Farming was in his blood, milking cows until 1986, followed by crop farming, until he rented out and eventually sold off acreage due to his aging. Especially in his later years, he appreciated the wildlife and beautiful birds. Orlando was an active member of Gideons International for over 50 years, believing that everyone needed to hear the Gospel of Christ. He loved his Lord Jesus and shared his faith story with many people. He loved to sing old hymns, and memorized Scripture passages for most of his life, encouraging others to do so throughout his lifetime. He did not fear death, and looked forward to his eternal home in Heaven.
Orlando was preceded in death by his wife Lenora Tesch; grandson Randy Tesch; granddaughter Angela Tesch; father and mother Reuben and Esther Tesch; brother Waldo (Ethel) Tesch; father-in-law and mother-in-law Herbert and Alice Koehler.
