Ali Christians and Mollie Dummer paired up to pitch a shut out against Holy Family May 8, as the ‘Cats picked up a 6-0 conference win.

The two pitchers each had one hit, while Holly Weinberger led the team with two. Marina Ramirez, Annie Christensen, Abbey Gregor and Lyndsey Marquardt all had one.

The Wildcats took the lead in the fourth inning, as Christensen and Marquardt both hit RBI doubles to put Waconia up 2-0.

The ‘Cats then put the game away in the sixth inning, putting four runs across to seal the win. Christians and Christensen reached base to start the inning, leading to RBIs from Gregor and Marquardt. Jess Grengs and Dummer drove in the next two runs to put the lead at 6-0.

The Monday win came after a pair of losses last week, when the ‘Cats lost 3-1 to New Prague and 5-2 at Delano.

Waconia got a strong pitching performance from Christians and a powerful day at the plate for Weinberger (three hits in three at-bats), but could not pull out the win against New Prague.

The Waconia pitching duo of Christians and Dummer held Delano to four hits, but errors doomed the ‘Cats as the Tigers won 5-2.
