James “Jim” P. Wagener

James “Jim” P. Wagener, age 87 of Cologne, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Regency Hospital in Golden Valley.
Mass of Christian Burial was Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Community (41 East First Street) in Waconia with Father Al Backmann as Celebrant of the Mass; visitation was Friday, May 12, 2017 from 4-8 p.m.. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the Mass at church; interment church cemetery.
Jim was born on February 24, 1930 in Waconia, the son of Ferdinand and Minnie (Johnson) Wagener. Jim was united in marriage to Geraldine F. Williams on July 30, 1952 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Chaska.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and the occasional trip to Mystic Lake. He bought and sold feeder pigs and cattle for many years. Jim and Gerry loved old tyme music and would always be out dancing whenever possible. He had a great memory for telling jokes and stories throughout his life. A game of cards was never out of the question if friends and family were getting together.
Jim was a founding member of the State Bank of Waconia and served on the board for 30 plus years.
Jim was preceded in death by his daughter Amy Wagener; parents Ferdinand and Minnie Wagener; brothers Edward, Harold and Elmer Wagener; father-in-law and mother-in-law Henry and Agnes Williams; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Annette Williams, Elroy and Loritta Williams, Jim Williams.
Jim is survived by his loving family: wife Geraldine “Gerry” Wagener; daughter Carol (Roger) Hoen of Cologne; son Steve Wagener and special friend Lisa Hegge of Cologne; grandchildren Jim (Crystal) Hoen, Bill Hoen, Greg Hoen and special friend Karmen Dahl, Tony Hoen, Julie (Mike) Weinzierl, Kellie Hoen, Kari (Greg) Stewart, Laura Wagener, Brian Wagener; great-grandchildren Jadyn, Sawyer, Maci and Marli; sister Marilyn (Denis) Kelzer of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Lucille Wagener of Waconia, Dora Wagener of Waconia, Thomas Williams of Waconia; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Casket bearers were Jim Hoen, Bill Hoen, Greg Hoen, Tony Hoen, Brian Wagener, Mike Weinzierl, Greg Stewart.
