Roger C. DeLeeuw, age 79 of Waconia, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waconia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday June 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Community (41 East First Street) in Waconia with Father Bennet Tran as Celebrant of the Mass; visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at church; interment St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Bird Island.
Roger was born on February 23, 1938 in Bird Island, the son of Charles and Winnifred (Osterfeld) DeLeeuw. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. On December 1, 1956, Roger was united in marriage to Mary Dickey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island.
Roger’s number 1 priority in life was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He lived in Waconia for 47 years. Roger was an avid bowler and loved to play cards, his favorite being Texas Hold’em. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus in Waconia, holding the office of treasurer for a long period of time and attained the level of 4th degree Knight. Roger worked at Pako Corporation, retiring after 30 years of working there. He enjoyed going to garage sales with Mary and was a coin collector.
Roger was preceded in death by his wife Mary; daughter Mary Beth; parents Charles and Winnifred; sisters Margie and Kathy; brother Kenny.
Roger is survived by his loving family: children and spouses Deborah DeLeeuw and John Holland of Winsted, Roger Scott and Kristine DeLeeuw of Norwood Young America, John and Leysa DeLeeuw of Waconia, Mark and Gay DeLeeuw of Henderson, Lisa DeLeeuw and Paul Mesenbring of Waconia; grandchildren Joseph and Monet Holland, Travis and Tracy Holland, Sarah Holland (Grayson), Kelly DeLeeuw, Katie DeLeeuw, Tabitha and Dane Maxfield, Ashley DeLeeuw (Brian), Andriy Bezpalko, Alex DeLeeuw, Evan Griep, Philip Griep, Amanda Mesenbring (Max), Alyssa Mesenbring (Evan); great-grandchildren Cloey Griep, Dakota Griep, Paige Holland, Preston Griep, Basil Holland; brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Bernice DeLeeuw of Cosmos, Gerald and Donna DeLeeuw of Hutchinson, David DeLeeuw of Darwin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Judy Hilenbrant of Willmar, Jacqueline and James Gacksteader of Marshall, James and Lori Sorensen of Shakopee, Alan Sorensen of Texas; his dog Snickers; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
