James Lhotka

James Virgil Lhotka, age 74, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on June 2, 2017 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carrol, Iowa.
Jim was born on June 10, 1942 in Minneapolis. He was the son of Virgil and Geraldine (Hagemeier) Lhotka. Jim’s family moved to Iowa when he was a young boy and they lived in Denison, Iowa. They moved to Carroll in the early 1950’s where his father owned and operated Lhotka Hardware.
He graduated from Carroll High School in 1961 and attended the University of Minnesota. He was married to Karen Siepka on Feb. 27, 1965. The couple lived in Brainerd where he worked as a police officer. In the late 1970’s, they moved back to Carroll to raise their family. Jim worked several jobs, including Carroll Community Center and did private investigation for local attorneys.
Later moved to Minnesota, working for local hardware stores, including Chaska Building Center. After retiring, he moved back to Carroll to be closer to his family.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, going for coffee with friends and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Tina Lhotka, of Baxter; two sons, Jim and Desieree of Hutchinson and Jason and Jodi of Carroll; three grandchildren, Domanique, Amber and Megan Lhotka of Carroll; a brother, Jerry (Pat) Lhotka of Norwood Young America; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim loved his faithful cat, Tank.
Jim was preceded in death by Karen Lhotka, his parents Virgil and Geraldine Lhotka, and his sister Dona Rossi
