Clarence A. Wirtz

Clarence A. Wirtz, age 95, of Cologne, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Mass of Christian Burial Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne with Father Gregory Abbott as Celebrant of the Mass; visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the Church; interment at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.
Clarence A. Wirtz was born on July 18, 1922 in Cologne, MN the son of Henry and Barbara (Mohrbacher) Wirtz.
Clarence attended Mass on a weekly basis; his faith was a huge part of his life. He was a lifetime member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne and he supported four or five missions in Africa.
Clarence was a proud WWII Veteran and his service to his country was a very important to him. He also took part in the WWII memorial trip to Washington which was very special to him.
Clarence loved his local sports teams, especially the Minnesota Twins. He had a coin collection, which included a lot of Kennedy half-dollars. Clarence also enjoyed listening to old tyme music.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Barbara Wirtz; brothers Edward, Charles, George, Lambert and Richard Wirtz; sisters Evelyn Happ, Stacy Schuette and Helen Simmet; niece Joelann Teubert; nephews Richard Happ, Dennis Happ and Michael Wirtz.
Clarence is survived by his 13 nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
