Linnea J. Loberg (Eklund)

Linnea Jeanne Loberg, age 65, of St. Peter and formerly of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly of complications from diabetes on August 2, 2017. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Engholm officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
The firstborn of four children, Linnea was born on February 20, 1952, in Watertown, Minnesota to John and Ruth (Hawkinson) Eklund. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Watertown. In 1970 she graduated from Watertown High School.
Linnea was united in marriage to Jeff Gatton on March 6, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church and together they had two children. She later married James Loberg on August 7, 1999.
Linnea will be remembered for her compassionate heart, demonstrating this compassion with her work at a Home Health Agency and by becoming a member of the Nicollet County Mental Health Local Advisory Council and serving as an active member with the Psychiatric Survivor Network.
Linnea was blessed with a gift of artistic and creative abilities which she shared with her family and friends in many ways including painting, designing and interior decorating. She was a loving caretaker of all living things and took special joy in flowers and gardening.
Her love of horses and vision to share with others found her in a position of being a founding member of the Tri-County Riders based in Watertown.
Linnea was preceded in death by her husband, James Loberg, in 2000 and her parents.
Linnea is survived by her children, Russell Smith Gatton III and Heather (Matt) Rae Drahos; grandchildren Ben Gatton, Andrew Gatton, Jackson Drahos and Cate Drahos; siblings Barb (Steve) Olson, Keith (Joanne) Eklund and Kimberly (Mike) Patterson; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of the St. Peter Funeral Home.
