Again this year during the annual Stiftungsfest celebration, an event for the entire family is planned for Sunday morning, Aug. 27.
At 8 a.m. at the Legion Park, the 14th annual Stiftungsfest 5K Race will take place. The race will begin at the park and run through the streets of Norwood Young America.
There is also a ½ mile Kids Run. The start time for the kids’ race will begin after the last 5K runners and walkers have finished (approximately 8:45 a.m.).
Last year’s quick rain downpour made us cancel the kids’ run, but over 150 runners participated in the 5K. There are hopes of over 300 runners participating this year.
The cost of the 5K is $20 (pre-registered) and the cost of the Kids ½ mile is $10. All those who register receive a great looking participation performance quality T-shirt.
If you wish to receive a flyer, please contact Carol and Mark Lagergren at 952-467-2376 and a flyer will be mailed out.
Pre-registration is requested, but individuals can register the day of the race at the Legion Park beginning at 7 a.m.
Flyers are also available at several local businesses. Additional information can also be found on the Stiftungsfest website at: http://www.stiftungsfest.org.
Print out a registration form and see the 5K and ½ mile kids’ race course. The website also has last year’s results and photos.
Corporate sponsors for the race are the NYA Lions Club and Ridgeview Rehab Specialists. The five mile marker sponsors are Hilgers Plumbing, Heating and AC, Inc., Schmidt Chiropractic, Southwest EyeCare, Snap Fitness, and Sacred Health Chiropractic. The awards for the Kids’ Race are being provided by the NYA Dairy Queen. Water is being provided by the NYA McDonalds. EconoFoods and Kwik Trip is providing many of the refreshments after the race.
Come and join the fun.
