A pipe bomb was found in a mailbox in Watertown Township on Wednesday, Sept. 6, according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office reports that deputies were called around 7:30 p.m. to investigate an undetonated “pipe bomb” inside a mailbox near the intersections of Co. Rd. 20 and Co. Rd. 127 in Watertown Township.
After discovering the explosive, deputies contacted both the Bloomington Police Department bomb squad and the Watertown Fire Department.
Technicians from the bomb squad arrived on the scene and safely detonated the device, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies collected debris and scoured the area for additional explosive devices, debris or other evidence.
The sheriff’s office reported no injuries or permanent property damage. The incident remains under investigation.
