Elsie Sandquist

 

Elsie E. Sandquist, age 82, of Watertown, passed away on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at St. Marys Care Center in Winsted.

Funeral Service held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. David Weeks officiating; visitation Friday 4-6 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday all at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown; interment Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Elsie was born on Sept. 2, 1931 in Beatrice, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Anna (Miller) Heyen. Elsie was baptized and confirmed in Beatrice. On May 26, 1954 Elsie was united in marriage to Glen Sandquist in Beatrice.

Elsie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She played the organ at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown for 35 years, and was involved in every aspect with the music ministry. Music was her passion and Elsie gave thousands of piano lessons to many people throughout the community. She enjoyed having a cup of coffee and visiting with anyone. Elsie and Glen would travel the country together attending horseshoe tournaments, which she enjoyed visiting with everyone there. One of her greatest pleasures was taking her houseboat trips in Northern Minnesota.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Anna Heyen; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law Esther and Woodrow Titrud, Donald Cornell, Marvin Tonn.

Elsie is survived by her loving family: husband Glen; sons and daughters-in-law Eric and Gretchen Sandquist of Cokato, Curt and Pat Sandquist of Watertown, Alden and Michelle Sandquist of Watertown; grandchildren Jennifer Sandquist, Eran and Melissa Sandquist, Jessica and Scott Lodermeier, Joy and Chris Vervais, Eli Sandquist and Nicole, Errol Sandquist and Cecily, Aaron Peterson, Brooke Sandquist and Kyle, Mark Sandquist, Scott Sandquist, Luke Sandquist; great-grandchildren Jaden, Isaac, Emma, Ava, Anna and Isabell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mabel Tonn of Lester Prairie, Gladys Cornell of Watertown, Alvin and Eleanor Sandquist of Granite Falls, Lois and Harold Severson of Lester Prairie, Mary Ann and Roger Kamann of Aitkin; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Casket Bearers (Grandsons) Mark Sandquist, Luke Sandquist, Eran Sandquist, Eli Sandquist, Errol Sandquist, Scott Sandquist, Aaron Peterson.

In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred.
